Hello everyone! I'm back and it's only been 6 months since my last post!
Ah the law of the blog, loads of thought, action and good intentions at first and then you get busy and its always on the to-do list but never quite gets up to the top.
It is a way of promoting your business, so its always a good sign if your blog section is a bit reedy because you're too busy to get it sorted- well that's my excuse.
On the other hand, its also a great time to reflect when you do come up for breath, so...
The world of retail continues to change at pace with an acceleration of quick commerce, purchases online and new ways to entertain and add services via the 'Early Seedlings of the Metaverse' (great name for a sci-fi novel by William Gibson)
We stand on the edge of HUGE change and brands are still hesitant to commit to new types of digital engagement, more active online sales and bolder funnier and more challenging social. We really need to STOP and review how our customers experience our products, how they find, research and commit to purchase. Use and occasion still offers the chance to increase value, add new ideas and change perception as the avocado marketing board will atest, but we just seem to stay in our lane and bumble through.
I've written to 20 major retailers and brands this week with 10 slides for change. Predictably, some have already come back with a firm 'Good day Sir, I said GOD DAY!' but who knows? It's time to change the rules, think about selling services and not just commodities and starting to surface from the race to the bottom!
